COSTA MESA, Calif. - (September 29, 2008) - Global investment bank RSM EquiCo Capital Markets LLC, one of the nation’s most successful merger and acquisition advisory firms, has changed its name to McGladrey Capital Markets LLC (www.mcgladreycm.com).
The firm’s new identity reflects its closer integration with RSM McGladrey, Inc., one of the nation’s largest providers of accounting, tax and business consulting services. Both firms are indirect subsidiaries of H&R Block, Inc. (NYSE: HRB).

Hector J. Cuellar, the investment bank’s president, said that the new identity signifies a milestone in a transformation that began when he assumed leadership of the firm in 2004. "We recognized the need to develop industry specialization, expand beyond our exclusive focus on sell-side mergers and acquisitions, and further enhance our already solid international presence," he said. "We subsequently recruited several very experienced dealmakers, significantly strengthened our vertical industry expertise, and added an array of complementary services such as capital raising, restructurings and fairness opinions."

Since Cuellar assumed leadership of the organization, McGladrey Capital Markets has completed more than 150 M&A transactions, tripled its average deal size, almost doubled its number of cross-border transactions, generated billions of dollars in liquidity for its clients, and been annually ranked among of the nation’s top 20 M&A advisors.
