Thoughts from the Group

Our forecast for 2008 was all about convergence. We spoke of the credit market drivers and potential for dramatic industry consolidation. We hinted at the global credit overhang and the potential to reshape the global financial markets. We mentioned record-breaking activities for the insurance sector. But never did we expect a $700 billion industry bailout nor $53 billion earmarked for AIG.

Substantial Investment in Financial Technologies

The fiscal crisis of 2008 has certainly reshaped the global financial services sector, as well as its massive investment responsibilities. In 2009, financial companies that took on poor performers will be busy absorbing them and improving infrastructure to preserve stakeholder investments. Also in 2009, increased regulation will require extensive data monitoring only capable by new technologies built to protect against the increasingly complex and sophisticated risk continuum. And of course, in 2009 companies must be positioned with products and services supplying the mobile lifestyle of a global population.
