Hector J. Cuellar
President
Hector J. Cuellar is president of McGladrey Capital Markets LLC, a global investment bank specializing in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, recapitalizations, capital raising, restructurings and fairness opinions. Since he assumed leadership of the firm, McGladrey Capital Markets has revamped its market strategy, completed more than 150 M&A transactions and grown by 155 percent. It also tripled its average deal size, doubled its number of cross-border transactions, and generated billions of dollars in liquidity for its clients. Today the firm is recognized as one the nation's leading M&A advisors for deals under $1 billion.
Mr. Cuellar has more than 25 years of experience in corporate and investment banking, including international M&A, corporate finance and capital raising. Prior to joining the firm, he served Banc of America Securities as managing director and manager of the firm's Los Angeles office, where he oversaw the firm's global activities in the aerospace and defense and engineering and construction industries.
Mr. Cuellar is a director of the Mexican-American Legal and Educational Defense Fund and previously served as president of the California Pacific
Chapter of the United States-Mexico Chamber of Commerce. He also was appointed to the National Petroleum Council in 2000 and 2001. In 2004, Mr. Cuellar was named one of the nation's 100 Most Influential Hispanics by Hispanic Business Magazine, and in 2007 he was listed as one of the Top 25 Latinos in Finance by Latino Leaders magazine.
Mr. Cuellar received a bachelor's degree in accounting from Loyola University in Chicago and a master's degree in business administration from Northwestern University's J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He holds FINRA Series 7, 24 and 63 securities licenses.
