David M. Blackwood
Executive Vice President & General Counsel

At McGladrey Capital Markets, Mr. Blackwood oversees the firm’s legal affairs and is a member of the firm’s executive management team. He also is active in several legal and M&A industry associations, and manages the firm’s legal channel relationships.

Before joining McGladrey Capital Markets, Mr. Blackwood was executive vice president and general counsel of Canon Computer Systems and, prior to that, practiced law at several prominent law firms in New York City. His broad legal experience includes working with sellers and buyers in numerous M&A transactions, as well as providing full-scale corporate advisory services. He also has represented issuers and underwriters in initial and secondary public and private placements of equity securities and debt obligations.

Mr. Blackwood received his juris doctorate, with a specialization in international law, from The Cornell Law School and his bachelor's degree from Cornell University. He holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 securities licenses.
